Relief for Victims of Katrina

I am putting together a donation of goods to send to refugees of Hurricane Katrina that are being housed on the campus of Louisiana State University. I have a contact who is a student at LSU and is working at the shelters, where she says supplies are not coming in fast enough. As I’m sure you already know, thousands of refugees from New Orleans have been moved out of the city and are being relocated to places like Baton Rouge, which were not hit as badly. Though organizations are working day and night, some supplies are getting caught in the politics of these organizations and not getting to the people that need them the most.

I will be sending out packages throughout the weekend. Jessi said she needs socks, shoes of all sizes, baby clothes, elastic waistband pants, games for kids, dog food…basically anything. The first one is going out tonight. Anything you could give would be wonderful, even if it’s just postage for the packages.
