Vlog Numero Uno – On Self-Care

Okay, you guys…I did it! This is my very first attempt at a video blog (aka, a vlog) and can I just say something honest? I am terrified to post this here. I feel like a total dorkface, and that silly voice in my head is telling me every reason I shouldn’t post this. Don’t you hate that silly voice? The one that points out all of your flaws and scares the crap out of you? Well, I have heard that when my silly voice tells me I shouldn’t do something, I should probably just do the opposite. So here, for your viewing enjoyment, is a little video I put together on the concept of self-care, and how I’ve incorporated it into my life. It’s long, y’all. That’s probably the first thing I learned, once I get talking, I don’t really stop quickly, so in future vlogs I’m going to cut it to about 3 minutes. I know you guys like me, but I’m sure you don’t have six minutes to listen to me babble on…except there is a special reward for those of you who make it until the end (hint: jazz hands!).

I’d love to hear your thoughts, comments and ideas, both on the concept of self-care and the vlog format itself. Constructive criticism is welcome, but be kind, you guys. I’m a delicate flower.

Enjoy! Ahhhhh!

I love it! You look great and sounds just like yourself and I know this because I get to know you personally 🙂

I’m also a huge fan of self-care and that you are mastering it. I personally like to read on my deck on sunny days while the kids nap. I also love to watch old school shows – current favorites are: Parenthood and Grey’s.

    What a great start! I’m a fan 🙂

    1. Tara Brach is awesome. Also, reading Glennon and Brene and Pema and Rumi and Brendon Bouchard daily. I also really like to follow fashion blogs, food blogs (mostly veggie/vegan food shares these days), and yoga blogs. I can give some recommendations if you want!
    2. Other self-care staples: yoga mat, lavender oil, vanilla lotion, anything that smells like the beach, a stack of books, my iPad, pillows, cats, eye pillow, peppermint, chamomile and sleepy time tea, Hulu Plus, Netflix, HBO Go, sunshine or moonlight (depending, but mostly sun), sparkly beverages like seltzer and fizzy water, dark chocolate, Pinterest, online shopping but not buying (usually), and time with good friends. And I know I’ve mentioned this already, but jeez I LOVE The Mindy Project. <3

Yes! Glennon and Brene and Pema are awesome too! Such great perspective. And yes on the yoga blog recommendations too! Also, I’m totally thinking of making a t-shirt that says “WWMLD: What Would Mindy Lahiri Do?” I think it would be a big seller!
