    A Daily Dose of Funny

    20060131 14:59

By now, everyone knows I have a few websites that I surf almost daily, and when I find something good I post links on this page. I try not to do it too often because it makes me feel like a copycat and a lazy bastard who can’t think of anything interesting to write myself. True.

So through Blurb, Dooce, leahpeah, and all of the other sites I read almost fanatically, I’ve found The Daily Mumps. I think it’s preparing me for child-raising more than birthing classes and What to Expect When You’re Expecting

    Some favorites:

The eyes are up here pal…

    Children are needy…

Three things to say to Milton when his snowman melts…

    We warned her…

    Tough love…

List of thoughts running through my brain at work today in no particular order

    1. Ahhhh! The emails are overwhelming me! Why so many emails?!
    2. Breathe. Just answer them one at a time.
    3. No I cannot redo that calendar for you!
    4. I need some chocolate cake.
    5. OK, time to redo that calendar. Crap.
    6. Ummm….I don’t remember what I was just doing. I hope it wasn’t too important.
    7. Where is that DAMN CHOCOLATE CAKE!
    8. Could that throbbing in my forehead please cease!
    9. Thank friggin’ God, chocolate cake.
    10. I need a nap.
    11. Is it lunchtime yet?
    12. What?! It’s already 4:40? Crap.

    Losers

I have come to two conclusions:

When a restaurant forgets to give you your pickle, and you wait until you get home to check the bag, you really have no one but yourself to blame for the missing pickle. Always check your bag!

Not having cable is a horrible thing. When you’re watching British countrymen raise some giant wooden structure on pulleys on PBS, well, that’s when you really realize how low you have sunk. Even more so when your husband begins to get very excited about this particular show, because he’s realized it’s all about creating some medival weapon. Damn, we’re cool. I really can’t believe we don’t have more friends. Seriously.

    Sick Day

    20060123 14:21

Last night was another one of those nights. And by “those nights” I mean, up all night, with unmentionable issues. And by unmentionable, I mean, you really don’t want to know. So this morning, after a small freak out involving the doctor I decided to take the day off from work. I hadn’t slept in 36 hours and still felt like crap, so I figured a sick day was a good idea.

I have now slept, gone to the doctor, checked my work emails, talked to my boss, given the dog a bath, and done laundry. AND I’M SO BORED!!!!

These are the days when cable would make a BIG difference.

Well, I’m off to work on our baby budget. Let the good times roll.

    Baby Girl Angel.jpg

A gift for our baby daughter from the CEO of QVC. It should be noted that the “Baby Girl” necklace was the last one of its kind at the Dollar General Store located in the parking lot next to the Golden Acres retirement home. This is obviously a hot commodity as, according to our inside source that runs a major home shopping corperation, it was THE LAST ONE IN THE STORE. She was going to keep it for herself, but decided in the end to sacrifice for her future grandchild. She did, however, make it known if I don’t like it, I should put it in a stamped envelope and send it back to her via U.S. mail, as she would like it back.
