Some Happy News

Ciao tutti! Just wanted to let everyone know that Jack was finally adopted from the shelter! I’m so glad that he finally found a home, although I still do miss him. I really want to get another dog, but I know I need to wait until I’m more financially stable. I should probably also wait until the weather gets better and Trent and I decide whether we’re going to move or not. He really doesn’t want to leave our apartment, but it’s starting to drive me nuts. There are just so many problems with it, it doesn’t seem to be worth the benefits. I’d like to find a house to rent, but who knows what will happen. I’m also beginning to look around KC for a place to volunteer. When I first moved to Lawrence, working at the women’s shelter really helped me to feel like a part of the community, so I thought it would be a good idea to get involved here as well. I’ve been checking out a few places, so we’ll see. I think Trent’s afraid I’m going to become a poor social worker or something, but that’s not what I want to do. I just feel like I am such a waste of space right now, and I need to do something that truly helps people. Speaking of, if anyone who reads this (ha, like anyone would read all this – though Trent says people really do stop by, so thanks)didn’t get my e-mail about helping Tsunami victims, let me know. I’ll be happy to forward you the information. All right y’all, peace out.

My Boring Life

I know the title of this entry is a bit depressing, but I’m about ready to rip my hair out because I am so bored! I’m sure things will pick up at work and be really exciting soon, but for now I’m not feeling to overwhelmed. Underwhelmed is more like it. The holidays brought a normal slow down in business, most people took vactions, but it was supposed to get wild around, well…now! Unfortunately, the arrival of some wintery weather is slowing everything down. Almost every office in the city seems closed today. So once again, I’m pretty much the only one at the office, just sitting around, waiting for the phone to ring…blech! In happier news, my good friend Abbie, my Euro-trip buddy, got engaged on New Year’s Eve. Her main sqeeze, Luke, is a good friend of Trent’s, so it will be a fun time for all. Now I’m in two weddings in the next year, and of course I’ll be attending a few others. Guess people were right when they said you hit this age, and it’s like a wedding every other day.

A Holiday Report

Christmas went well, as did Trent’s birthday. I, with the assistance of Cindy, Ashley, and Josh Durfelt, threw Trent a surprise party on Thursday. I couldn’t believe how many people showed up! Who knew he was such a popular guy??? I think he had a pretty good time because he was so hungover on Friday that he didn’t even get up til around 2:00 p.m. Christmas was great too. I helped Trent’s sister make a DVD for Lee and Cindy with pictures of the kids. Kind of a photoalbum with music. I was, as per usual, totally spoiled by Trent’s family on Christmas. My family’s Christmas was last week, but they spoiled me as well. Anyway, hope the holidays treated everyone as well as they treated me.
